The legendary July 1975 National Lampoon 3-D issue — and the original 3-D glasses are still inside. That’s the detail that makes this one rare. Most copies that surface today lost their glasses decades ago. This one didn’t.

The cover features a Stevie Wonder caricature with the original starburst banner: "3-D Glasses Included." Inside: X-Rated 3-D entertainment starring Stevie Wonder, Judy Garland, Jackie Onassis, Mel Brooks, The Marx Brothers, Barbra Streisand, Clint Eastwood, Tatum O’Neal, and Cher. The 3-D content was produced using the anaglyph process — red/cyan lens glasses — and the original cardboard glasses included with this issue are what make it functional as intended.

The July 1975 issue was produced at the height of the Lampoon’s creative and commercial peak. The editorial team responsible for this issue — which included writers and editors who would go on to create Animal House (1978) and launch Saturday Night Live (1975, the same year) — was operating at full force. The 3-D gimmick was executed with the same irreverence the magazine brought to everything: the content is genuinely funny, the celebrity caricatures are sharp, and the whole thing works as both comedy and artifact. Copies with original glasses intact in VG/Fine condition sell in the $75–$150 range in the collector market. This example is at the top of that range.
