Leaves of Gold — Clyde Francis Lytle, Coslett Edition (Vintage Book)
Vintage & Found · The Foundry
Leaves of Gold. It was in nearly every American home. Someone kept this one.
Leaves of Gold — compiled by Clyde Francis Lytle, published by the Coslett Publishing Company, Philadelphia. First published in 1948 and reprinted through the 1960s, it sold millions of copies and found its way onto the shelves and side tables of mid-century American homes from coast to coast. An anthology of prose, poetry, proverbs, and quotations drawn from across centuries and traditions — Shakespeare, Lincoln, Emerson, the Bible, anonymous wisdom from places no one recorded. The kind of book that got read in pieces, opened at random, passed between people.
This copy is the Coslett edition — dark brown pebbled leatherette cover, Leaves of Gold in gold Gothic lettering, embossed olive branch panel at the lower right, original cord tie binding intact. Good vintage condition with light cover wear consistent with age and use. The cord is original.
The kind of book that someone kept. Now it’s here.
