An antique devotional portrait — Mary Most Holy by C. Bosseron Chambers, identified by the original brass title plaque affixed to the lower rail of the ornate carved gold frame. The image depicts a young Mary with soft curling hair, a faint halo, and a jeweled pendant at the collar. The expression is direct and still. The canvas shows age and texture consistent with early 20th century religious print reproduction on fabric or canvas board.
Charles Bosseron Chambers (1882–1964) was one of the most widely reproduced American Catholic devotional artists of the early 20th century. His images were distributed through churches, schools, and religious publishers across the country. Original framed prints with attributed title plaques are increasingly sought by Catholic collectors and devotional art enthusiasts.
