Dark walnut or mahogany construction with a scalloped gallery top, original brass ring pull hardware, and a carved fan/shell detail on the lower apron. The writing surface drops open on brass chains to reveal a simple interior with dividers and cubbies — enough organization for correspondence, journaling, or a small home office setup.
The piece stands on elegant sled legs and has the proportions of a lady's writing desk — compact, upright, and purposeful. The writing surface shows some surface scratches and old markings consistent with age and use. The exterior and structure are solid throughout.
