Material recovered from the Packard Plant, Detroit.
The Packard Automotive Plant on East Grand Boulevard operated from 1903 to 1958. After closure it became one of the most documented ruins in America — a five-million-square-foot monument to industrial collapse, urban abandonment, and the complicated story of what Detroit became after the auto industry contracted. Demolition of the main complex began in 2019. What remained was recovered.
The Debris Collection is a curated bundle of material recovered from the Packard Plant site — brick fragments, concrete, glass, and structural remnants — documented, labeled, and presented as a physical archive of a place that no longer stands in this form. Each piece is unique. This exact bundle will not exist again.
