The October 1978 "Entertainment" issue of National Lampoon delivers one of the more gloriously chaotic covers of the magazine's later run: a carnival barker in a striped jacket and top hat, standing on a toilet, pulling back a shower curtain to reveal a cascade of goldfish — while holding a sign that reads See the Wild Ferocious Mom! $1 • One Show Only.
It's pure absurdist spectacle — the American family as sideshow attraction, motherhood as something to be gawked at for a dollar. The Lampoon was still swinging in 1978, and this cover proves it. Also includes a Special Bonus Insert: Big Ten College Guide, which is exactly as useful as it sounds.
