The November 1977 "Lifestyles" issue of National Lampoon features a photo cover that is a perfect time capsule of late-70s American self-absorption: a man in headphones, tennis bag over his shoulder, leans into a hospital nursery window while a nurse holds up a newborn baby — already wearing aviator sunglasses. The "Lifestyles" banner in the corner is almost redundant.
The cover lines complete the portrait of an era: Leisure Soups, White Rastafarians, A Guide to Medical Flea Markets, and Famous Anus Chocolate Chip Cookies. The Lampoon at its most sociologically precise — skewering the lifestyle culture of 1977 with the accuracy of a field guide.
Bagged and boarded, solid condition. A strong and visually memorable issue from the magazine's later run. Sold as-is.
