National Lampoon — The Gentleman's Bathroom Companion (Sealed, Original Poly Bag)
Still in the bag. That’s the whole story.
National Lampoon — The Gentleman’s Bathroom Companion is a standalone special publication from the National Lampoon — not a monthly issue, but a curated anthology compiled from the magazine’s best ribald, satirical, and absurdist material. Cover price: $2.50. This copy is still sealed in its original poly bag, unread, unhandled, exactly as it left the newsstand.
About This Publication
The full cover subtitle reads: “Being a Miscellany of Divers Ribald Drolleries Culled from the Pages of the National Lampoon, to which are Appended Sundry Amusing Sketches by Mr. Sam Gross, Esq., and the Latest Novella by Mr. Chris Miller, B.A.”
Contributors include:
- Sam Gross — one of the most prolific and darkly funny cartoonists in American magazine history, a longtime New Yorker contributor whose work appeared regularly in National Lampoon throughout the 1970s
- Chris Miller — National Lampoon writer and co-author of the screenplay for Animal House (1978), which was based directly on his own fraternity stories published in the magazine
The cover illustration depicts a man in a naval captain’s uniform and a woman in a motorboat sailing through a bathtub — classic National Lampoon absurdism rendered in full painted illustration.

About National Lampoon
National Lampoon (1970–1998) was the most influential American humor magazine of the 20th century — the training ground for John Belushi, Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, Gilda Radner, and the writers who would go on to create Saturday Night Live, Animal House, Caddyshack, and Vacation. Sealed copies of special publications are increasingly rare.
