Antique Working Edison C-19 Disc Phonograph with Records

Before Streaming. Before Vinyl. Before Radio — There Was Edison.

This antique Thomas A. Edison Disc Phonograph C-19 is confirmed to be working well and includes a box of Edison Diamond Disc records. That makes it a rare opportunity to own a complete listening experience from the earliest days of recorded sound — not just a display piece, but a machine that still plays.

Before streaming services, before vinyl collections became a hobby, and before radio became the center of American living rooms, families gathered around machines like this one to hear music, comedy, speeches, and performances pressed onto Edison’s thick, distinctive Diamond Disc records. This is not nostalgia for something you read about. This is the actual thing.

The cabinet features a warm mahogany-toned wood finish, lift-top record player compartment, original brass Edison identification plate, hand-crank mechanism, decorative leaded-glass grille front, lower cabinet storage, and the classic upright phonograph silhouette that immediately commands attention in any room it enters.

The brass plate identifies this as Model C-19, Serial Number SM161446C, manufactured by Thomas A. Edison, Inc., Orange, NJ, USA — with patents dating from November 17, 1903 through May 21, 1916.
