The Foundry by History Loves Company — Our Story, Our Mission, and Why We Chose Pontiac

Pontiac, Michigan  ·  The Foundry

History Loves Company started as a YouTube channel. A camera, a story, and a belief that Michigan’s historic places deserved to be documented before they disappeared. The Foundry is what happened when that belief needed a physical home.

We chose Pontiac because Pontiac chose us back. The Riker Building at 35 W Huron Street — a 1920s commercial block with pressed metal ceilings and original storefront proportions — was exactly the kind of place HLC was built to document. We decided to operate from it instead.

What The Foundry Is

The Foundry is a vintage mercantile, a local maker marketplace, a small business incubator, a podcast studio, and a community gathering place. It is the physical expression of everything History Loves Company believes about place, story, and the value of showing up for a city that is worth showing up for.

Every item on the floor has a story. Every vendor has a reason to be here. Every event is designed to bring people together around something worth paying attention to. That is not an accident. It is the mission.
